AMT and IBM Ireland announce technology partnership

Aircraft Management Technologies (AMT) have today announced a technology partnership with IBM. Under the agreement AMT becomes a member of the IBM Net Generation group - a group set up by IBM to nurture and support start-up companies. Membership of the group gives AMT access to IBM technology, market knowledge and server hardware. IBM will also provide a total server solution to AMT to include hardware, software and services. Dublin-based AMT is an aviation industry solutions provider, which develops information system technology to automate and streamline operations within the aviation industry. IBM is one of the largest suppliers of IT to the aviation business.

Commenting on the new technology partnership, Mr. Bernard Hensey, Chief Executive of AMT said “This partnership is another major step forward in the development of AMT. With the assistance of IBM, one of the worlds leading technology companies, AMT is now in a position to offer clients a total technology solution.”

He added, “We offer our product in a relatively unexplored market. The airline industry is still coming to terms with advances in technology. Our first offering, eTechlog™ is the highest quality software solution and is now supported by an outstanding global partner in IBM. This partnership represents a real opportunity for airlines to increase the speed and reliability of information transfer thus improving aircraft utilization and quality compliance while achieving substantial cost savings and improving aircraft reliability.”
According to David Tallon, NetGeneration Manager, Ireland “We are delighted to have provided AMT with IT infrastructure that is so central to their core business operation. We welcome AMT into the IBM NetGeneration community of customers. This community has been growing at a rapid pace over the past year and IBM is confident in its proven track record in providing IT solutions to start up companies in Ireland.

We believe that AMT will work closely with IBM to utilise the extended reach of the organisation and sell its product to an increasingly global customer base. AMT have discovered a market niche and IBM is confident of success. We plan on making this partnership mutually beneficial to both businesses and are very pleased to add a forward thinking company such as AMT to our list of successes.”

AMT's eTechlog™ software provides an innovative electronic version of the aircraft operations and technical documentation and is the first product to offer secure, wireless transmission of aircraft technical and operations data via XML technology and portable computing devices. The software allows electronic entry of operations and maintenance information by pilots, cabin crew and ground engineers. This is transmitted to a web-based Aircraft Data Server during the aircraft turnaround cycle. Information on the server is instantly available for simultaneous use by all authorised users within the airline and its' service vendor base.
