Flightman™ Network Module provides the ability for an aircraft, or a device associated with an aircraft, to remain synchronized with a central ground server. From a connectivity perspective an aircraft operates as an occasionally connected device. Communications are typically only intermittently available. Furthermore the usage of the underlying communications link may be constrained by the available time or network bandwidth.
Flightman™ Network Module addresses these issues by ensuring the reliable synchronization between a device and the central server. Support is incorporated for Smart File Download, enabling the transmission of files over a low bandwidth or unreliable link. If the underlying connection is lost while transferring a file, the system allows for the resumption of the transfer from the point at which the connection was lost. The system also facilitates the use of 3rd party file based synchronization technologies such as, rsync™.
The system handles the synchronisation of the aircraft's data set between the aircraft and the ground-based server. It ensures that any updates to the onboard data are propagated to the ground and similarly any data published for the aircraft is transferred to the aircraft.
