Dublin, Ireland (05th April 2006) - AMT (Aircraft Management Technologies) and Singapore Airlines have completed the third in a series of studies to help drive operational efficiency at the airline. AMT conducted process analysis workshops across different operational functions including Flight Operations, Line Maintenance, Data Distribution, Fuel, and Cabin Crew. Arising out of these studies, Singapore Airlines has now commenced the recently announced Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) project to connect all of the aircraft in its fleet to its existing ground-based enterprise systems.
‘The purpose of these studies was to examine existing processes and how these could be improved with the introduction of new technologies such as EFB’ said Steve Hardgrave, COO of AMT. The chosen operational processes were modelled using a software simulation tool which allows the cost and performance of the processes to be compared. This produces a clear Value Proposition for the introduction of the new technology and allows an airline to build a robust business case.
‘These studies have allowed Singapore Airlines to define clear requirements for our new EFB solution and identify potential savings and benefits in our operations with the new EFB solution’ said Capt. Alan Chan, Singapore Airlines Chief Pilot of the Boeing 747 fleet.
Commenting on the recently completed series of projects, Bernard Hensey, CEO of AMT said that, ‘AMT is very proud to be associated with Singapore Airlines in this project. We have worked hard together to define the value proposition for EFB and I believe that this groundwork will be a strong contributing factor in Singapore Airlines’ smooth implementation of a business focused EFB-based solution.’
