AMT announces the release of the Large Content Management Module for the Flightman™ framework

Dublin, February 12th 2008; AMT – Aircraft Management Technologies today launched the Flightman Large Content Management Module.

Initially launched in 2000, the AMT product has undergone a series of developments and enhancements to become today’s Flightman™ software platform. Flightman™ is an electronic solution for the secure, wireless management of aircraft technical and operations data using XML technology and portable computing devices enabling airline process automation and simplification, fuel and vendor management.

The Large Content Management Module builds on the Flightman framework to allow the delivery and management of large data items on and off the aircraft.

The Large Content Management Module builds on the Flightman data model concept to enable the synchronization of binary data with the aircraft subscribers. The large content to be synchronized is represented in the data model with the content itself stored and transferred externally. In effect the meta data, i.e. the data representing the binary object is managed within the Flightman™ data model and the delivery of the data is handled by the Large Content Management Module. It can easily be integrated with any airline ground system and collect data from third party systems.

The exchange of data is bi-directional. It includes data published by the ground for aircraft, for example, charts, weather or navigational database updates. Large content can also be generated on the aircraft for delivery to the ground, e.g. FOQA monitoring data is generated onboard for delivery to the ground.

The electronic delivery of large content to the aircraft requires the availability of high bandwidth communication channels to the aircraft. With the emergence of communications service offerings providing “Internet in the Sky” type connectivity for passenger communications, airlines now have the ability to avail of a large bandwidth communications channels for aircraft operational communications in-flight. Furthermore, with technologies such as cellular 3G and Gatelink cost-effective wide bandwidth communications are available to the aircraft on the ground. By implementing the Flightman™ Large Content Management Module, airlines will have a unique capability of centralizing the distribution of content such as manuals, charts, SOPs, Flight Crew Instructions etc, thus resulting in significant cost savings.

Through its synchronised modules Flightman™ is the now the only complete solution for electronic data capture and management in the field of flight operations and maintenance, covering business processes, technical documentation, fuel and vendor management, onboard sales, weight and balance, aircraft performance calculations and flight plates.

Since its foundation in 2000, AMT has won several awards for its state-of-the-art technology and has continued to expand its operations in the international aviation industry. AMT now boasts an impressive customer portfolio of charter, commercial and cargo airlines.
